It's mid-March and I've already started my seedlings! It maybe a bit premature, but that's okay...I just couldn't wait any longer. It's 18 degrees Celsius today! I got a lot and I mean A LOT (with more coming) of different kinds of seeds from seed communities. Most are organic/heirloom and from plants grown in Canada. Last year I only planted vegetables and herbs, this year I'm branching out a bit with flowers too! The best thing is, once the growing season is over I'll collect the seeds from those plants and have plenty to share to next year. How cool is that?
I bought my Jiffy Pots from the dollar store, a pack of 26 for a mere...dollar. Compared to places like Walmart, who sell these for $2.50 or more. I'm gardening on the cheap here, people! I'd rather take my extra buck and a half and spend it on plant food. Aside from that, I'll also be going to the local Toronto compost depots to get free compost for my yard and garden. This starts in April. Yay, gardening!
The beans and sunflower seeds I purchased at the bulk place are sprouting rapidly! I bought a handful of the 7-bean soup mix for like, 30¢. Hopefully they'll flower and grow beans. :)
Does anyone else garden?
