Smart Shopping

Bag of "Candies & Toys" on clearance for 48¢ and a can of chick peas for 40¢

I couldn't leave the store having not purchased this bag of goodies. LOOK AT HOW MUCH FUN?! AND SUGAR?!

A lot of milk, FREE! I posted about it here for those able to get in on the deal.

Star Wars Pez! $2 each 'cause you know, Rich loves.

More stuff from the dollar store, $1 for 80 baggies. Perfect for storing seeds.

Dove body wash: $3.97 a bottle - $2 competitor's coupon - $2 manufacturer's coupons = FREE

Bicks Relish: $1.00 a jar - 50¢ competitor's coupon - 50¢ manufacturer's coupon = FREE

Vitasoy Organic: $1.00 a carton - 75¢ off coupon = 25¢ each

Dove body wash: $2.99 - $2 competitor's coupon = 99¢ - $2.00 manufacturer's coupon = +$1.01 overage

Acetone: $9.97, no coupons. The overage from the Dove body wash paid for most of it. $3 out of pocket?

Body wash hoarder. I know!

  1. HOLY SHIT! You are so good with all this stuff!! I tried with the Silk coupons and ran into SO much troubles. So I almost gave up. LOL

And I'm so making your place my base when the Zombie Apocalypse hits.. I'll be well fed AND smell good as I combat the walking dead.

P.S. Can I use multiple coupons per transaction with that TRutaste coupon?

    Thanksies!

  2. Oh man, I've had tonnes of issues redeeming coupons in the past. It almost makes people not want to save money! It's like, Hello?! You guys get reimbursed, plus a handling fee!. Some employees think that using a coupon means that the savings are coming out of their own pocket. lol I could go on and on about it.

Where did you try and redeem the Silk coupon? I know some stores don't take internet printed ones (ie: Food Basics, Metro...) While others like Walmart, Loblaws and all it's sister stores do!

OMG, I remember watching a show on people stocking up in case of the world ending or whatever. It's crazy! I'll have a bunk set up for you when it happens. :) Maybe we'll smell so good they won't want anything to do with us.

As for the TruTaste coupon, there aren't any restrictions as to how many one can use, so yep- you're good to go. I used 4 in one go as did Rich!

PS. To make cashiers' life easier, I like highlighting the expiry date and the redemption address.

  3. Hmm looks like commenting with my LJ account works again!

I don't know if I ever commented on your milk freebie, but I tried to use it at Loblaws to no avail. Wait - first, let me say that at the same store, I was able to redeem the coupon for 1 carton the previous day. I wasn't sure if I could get more than one at a time.

I went back the next day to get one more, and they wouldn't let me! Perhaps my mistake was not buying anything else. The first flag was me trying to use a printed Internet coupon. The cashier calls over the manager even though I bust out their little coupon policy printout and show it to her. The manager first gives me the same schpiel, but then asks what the coupon is for and upon seeing the milk, says that I cannot "combine offers" since the milk is on sale. Is a sale considered another offer?! I was doubtful, and argued with her for quite some time, poring over the printed coupon policy (unfortunately it didn't have the policy on free items on that sheet) until, as I was scanning the page, another customer needed her help and she just walked away from me and didn't come back. UGH.

  4. By the way, I mentioned this to Denise recently too: You can buy proper acetone at Walmart for less than $5 for almost 500mL!

  6. I"m so sorry you had trouble redeeming the coupon! Sounds like a lot of the stores and their staff aren't trained properly on the use of manufacturer's coupons.

Which Loblaws did you go to?
When I run into issues like that involving the manager, I make sure to get their name(s) and to get home office to clarify with them so they for next time. Send them an e-mail letting them know what happened and hopefully HO will educate their staff!

Thanks for the heads up on 100% acetone at Walmart. lol The industrial stuff probably isn't good for my nails (any idea what the difference is?), but $5 for 500mL is around the same price for the can! I know where I'll go next time, although it will take me a while to finish this one off.. :)
