Pork chops marinated in a mixture of lemongrass, soy, garlic &c. served with seasoned rice and lettuce with lots of Nuoc Cham sauce! |
I made a bit of a mess and my back splash has yet to be done. (Choosing tiles is hard!) |
My little cute thing investiagting |
Wondering why she can't have any pork. |
Grab a club pack of pork chops, we had about 8 in a pack bought on sale for about $3.50 and plunk them in the marinade. |
Smush it around until it's all coated and let it marinate in the fridge for at least an hour. |
Make the sauce and leave it alone while the pork is in the fridge. Allow all the flavours to party and get to know each other! |
Yum- I pan fried the pork (a BBQ would work great too) |
I made some seasoned rice, which was cooked in chicken stock, tumeric and other spices. Then cut up some lettuce to serve on the side. |

Delicious. I like a lot of Nuoc Cham sauce with this dish and I put it on everything! |
I made this sometime last week, but I am (again) super not on schedule! Whoops. Everyone gobbled this up with delight and there were enough perfectly caramelized and slightly charred pieces of meat for leftovers! That means whoever was taking lunch to work the next day or two will be darn well fed.
As usual I didn't use a recipe for the marinade but here is what I put in it, if you're wondering. I've listed the ingredients from what I used most to what I used least of...
Soy sauce (I used a mix of light soy and reduced sodium soy sauce), lemongrass powder, minced garlic, fish sauce, sugar, lime juice, white pepper, black pepper and oil. It would be great for chicken too or even faux meat. (Just leave out the fish sauce.)
