Ever since I met Richard, we've been attending
Toronto's Vegetarian Food Festival together on an annual basis. Although I am far from being a vegetarian myself, I enjoy going to explore new foods and products- especially items that mimic their non-vegan counterpart! After all, I am a semi-part time veggie and will enjoy eating a tasty vegan meal from time to time. Most importantly, I cook and bake vegan quite often! I enjoy the challenge and who knows, it might even be a tad bit healthier. ;)
There were tonnes of food, drink and product samples, coupons, cupcakes and pastries along with various un-meat products available for purchase so you can enjoy them at home. The weather was nice, sunny and breezy, though there were scattered showers throughout the day. What better event to romp around in my wellies and umbrella? I loved it!
The festival is held at The Harbourfront Center, downtown Toronto and is open for three days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). If you're interested in attending next year or want more information, head over to their
website!
Here are some snap shots of the beginning of our day.

Fruity soy beverages made by Natura. The mango pineapple flavour was divine! |
|
All natural, vegan, spelt flour cookies baked by New Moon Kitchen. You wouldn't be able to tell the difference from the "regular" stuff. |
|
Baked goodies from a company that's name escapes me. |
|
I'm tempted to say this booth belonged to Kupcakes Bake Shop. Please correct me if I'm wrong! |
|
Their cupcakes were cute, though a bit dry looking- perhaps due to being out in the elements all day. |
|
Redpath, the makers of various sugars were there giving out samples of the beverage variety. |
|
These ladies were promoting Redpath's new agave nectar, though the drinks Rich and I sampled had zero in them.
Those
jars you see are flavour syrups in blueberry lavender, peach and apple
cinnamon. There was an option for just plain agave sweetened tea, but it
seemed rather plain compared to the others. Each syrup was mixed with a
chilled cup of white tea and served.
They were delicious! I don't believe they were selling anything though... |

This was were all the yummy "restaurant" style food was. Mmm!! More on this later. |
|
Coconut Bliss ice 'cream'! Check out all those flavours. Chocolate Hazelnut Fudge?! YES PLEASE. |
|
We had passed this booth several times and fortunately during one of them, we passed it at the right time! |
|
Ice cream tasting! This flavour was Cherry Ameretto |
|
I thought it was delicious, especially for something completely dairy
free. Rich didn't enjoy the flavours as much as it was 1. coconut based
2. had strong almond extract flavouring. More for me! |

Organic, raw chocolate made from heirloom cacao by Giddy Yoyo. |
|
Handmade vegan chocolate truffles, $1/peice |
|
A sample of tofu shirataki noodles with stir fried vegetables from Sunrise Soya |
|
Puppy! One of many who were out enjoying the day. <3 |
This was just the beginning. There are tonnes more photos!
