Thanksgiving dinner was hosted at my house this year! I was fortunate to be able to cook a lot of the dishes myself and had some help from my family making delicious contributions. It was really nice! I was relatively stress free, even though I was cooking for about 15 people. This was due to lots of prepping and planning the night before. I think everyone had a great time, I certainly did. Thank you to everybody who came!

My Butterball turkey |

Roasted and resting before I carved it |
Lovely and golden. I had stuffed it with garlic, onions, and fresh thyme. |
After watching various carving videos, I think I've finally got the hang of it. Thanks YouTube. |
Note that I put a rimmed baking tray under my cutting board. This helps to catch the juices that escape. SAVE THE JUICES, make great gravy. |
Look at how moist! After I took off the thighs and wings, I carved the breast. |
Carving action. I got impatient and just went at it. Thanks to Rich for getting these photos while I cut away with my meat juice covered hands. <3 |
Pretty much done the first side, now onto the next |
I plated the sliced turkey meat on a pretty glazed aubergine leaf platter I picked up from Loblaws on clearance for under $2! |
Buttered brussels sprouts |
Roasted brown sugar sweet potatoes |
My mom's famous potato and mixed fruit salad with shrimp. It's delicious and guests were able to take some home too! |
Turkey (gravy on the left) and homemade cranberry sauce with an orange-y twist |
Herbed mashed potatoes |
Turkey stuffing with raisins |
Mum's baked creamy dill salmon |
Deviled eggs (I LOVE DEVILED EGGS!!) |
This was my first plate. There was another plate after this with everything else on it! I pigged out. |
Serious food coma after. Totally worth it. |
Rich's plate of vegan goodness! I had made a vegan version of some of the staples. |
His dinner included chick'n nugget burger, dairy-free mashed potatoes, veggie stuffing, sweet potatoes and cranberry sauce. :) |
Spiced cupcakes with whipped topping made by my Aunt T |
These were so good, I had three in one sitting a couple days later! |
Denise brought a "Summer Harvest" pie which was made with mixed berries and rhubarb, yummy! |
Homemade sweet bean soup and tofu pudding from my Aunt's sisters. I love tofu pudding! |
The pie. It was good and I wish I had some right now. My Aunt K and Uncle B brought ice cream bars too! SO MUCH FOOD! |
I ate a little bit of everything and was beyond full. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and enjoyed their long weekend!
Food babies? Food comas? Totally.
