Continuing our little walking adventure through the market at St. Jacobs...
Baked goodies! I have no idea what these are, but they're wrpas and they've gotta be filled with savory goodness. |
A crowd was attracted, the food looks delicious. |
Popular pies and people going nuts buying them |
Samples!! Looks to some kind of hummus and a few dips. I have no idea why I didn't sample these. REGRET!! |
Hand dipped candles. So cool! |
Cinnamon bun bakers |
Ed buying a couple of delicious looking focaccia. |
East Coast Shawarma aka. The Donair. I've never had one, but I heard that that sauce is milk based and sweet. Interesting! |
After walking around in the indoor market, we made our way back outside, where a gazillion vendors were selling fresh and local fruits and vegetables.
Yummy nectarines in October! |
So many pretty colours! |
I love apples. I love how photogenic they can be with all their shades of yellows, reds & greens. |
It doesn't look like it, but this particular apple was nearly the size of my face. :P |
Local mushrooms |
Grapes! I tried one, they let me. It was one of the best grapes I've had! ...even though there were seeds. |
Flowers in gorgeous Autumn colours |
Holy moley, that's a lot of peppers. |
Signage. Reminded be of Arizona. I miss Arizona! |
Best-ies! These two were waiting for people to get on the cart/wagon/carriage so they could get to work. <3 |
There was a girl who was selling snack food. There were different kinds of sweets, but what caught my/Ed's/Rich's eye were chips! Yummy. They were all 5 for $5, so a total steal until we checked the expiry dates. Womp-womp. Totally expired. Now, I normally don't mind if a package of potato chips have been expired by a couple of days, even a week! I'd still eat them. But this girl ran up to me, knowing that I had caught on to her and said, "Oh, don't worry they're just numbers!".
THEY.ARE.JUST.NUMBERS. Seriously? Seriously.
Uh...we all looked at each other, put the items back and left saying thanks, but no thanks. I wonder what else she was selling that was expired. Was the re-packaged bulk candy seconds from the factory? You know, the stuff farmers have started
feeding cows?
I was annoyed at the fact that she wanted to pull a fast on on us. Not cool, lady! But that's what we get for wanting packaged junk food, when we're at a farmer's market, right? :(
We bought some apples and munched on those instead. I picked up a luscious jar of local unpasteurized honey from a kind man and continued on to explore other vendors!
