Karen and I headed over to Salad King for dinner after we had attended the Lindt Chocolatier event earlier. We did a little shopping at the Eaton Center and by the end of it all, had finally work up a bit of an appetite despite gorging on sweets! She had never been there and I hadn't visited since the fire incident which ended up in the restaraunt relocating, which was back in 2011!
I was hoping that the food and prices hadn't changed and everything including the menu pretty much stayed the same!

She ordered the chicken Phud Thai, which is one of the more popular dishes and never fails to impress. The noodles were plentiful and came out piping hot.
I ordered my favourite, chicken Panang Curry which is served with rice. There are other dishes I'd like to try, ubt I keep on coming back to this one! The flavours are addicting, but I found that the chicken over tenderized. There was a point during my meal where I was questioning what kind of meat I was eating because it lacked texture. Other than that, there was a good amount of sauce to vegetable/chicken ratio, which accompanied the rice perfectly.
The decor and atmosphere is modern, fun and if you sit by the window, you'll get a entertaining view of Yonge Street. It also provides excellent lighting for photos! The service was fast and courteous, which I appreciated. The restaurant is less cafeteria style and more sit down, which is one of the major changes compared to the old location. I much prefer my own table and not having to share a bench!
An issue I found annoying was that their water had the most unappetizing bleach taste. I had to send our glasses back, but what came in its place was no better. I'm not sure if it's their water supply or if their dishwasher was leaving a heavy residue of chemicals, but it was really off putting. Perhaps they're just trying to bank on drink sales?
Either way, I'll definitely be returning. I'll just have to remember to bring my own bottle of water as I refuse to pay for bottled and no one really needs the extra sugar and calories in juice. If you decide to pay Salad King a visit, I suggest you do the same!
