I nearly forgot to post about our 2013 Christmas dinner, which was so delayed thanks to the Toronto ice storm and black out, became more like a New Year's Eve dinner. Everything that was planned dissapeared and I basically winged it. There were five people at dinner unlike pervious years and although the meal was delicious, it just wasn't the same. The Christmas spirit was lacking and overall not impressive/I was not impressed. Here are some simple and not so enthusiastic shots!

Buttered up turkey, salt and pepper stuffed with aromatics which included smashed garlic, onions, rosemary thyme and sliced clementines. |
Roasted at 400F, just out of the oven. |
Good overall colour and the skin was crisp. I did not baste my bird. |
I tucked the little guy in to rest for about an hour. |
Carved and thrown on a platter! Served with a cranberry orange and gravy. |
My plate, full. The turkey was deliciously moist (even if it wasn't a Butterball) thanks to all the injections I gave it.
Sides included brown sugar sweet potato mash, spinach casserole, dressing with cranberries and apples and mashed potatoes. |
Rich's vegan plate with chick'n fillets, mushroom gravy, dressing with cranberries and apple, brown sugar sweet potato mash and mashed potatoes. |
For dessert, there were two apple pies, one store bought and a homemade vegan apple pie with a homemade crust. |
I'm looking forward to carving next year's bird. :)
