I was sent a complimentary case of Starbucks' bottled Mocha Frappuccino to review not too long ago.The product is shelf stable, comes in a cute glass jar reminiscent of old milk jugs. These are not new to the market, but they were new to me!
The thing I got most excited about were the bottles. I can't say I've ever been a fan of prepared coffee beverages, which is why I always prefer to make my iced coffees at home or at a café, so I can customize it.
I tried this beverage three ways:
Plus, aren't Frappuccino drinks made blended with ice?
Starbucks Bottled Frappuccinos might be the perfect beverage for some, is definitely not for me. The chocolate flavour wasn't very present either. I will be sticking to my cold brewed coffee at home or indulge in a double brewed iced coffee at the coffee shop. These aren't worth the sugar or calories.
- As is- straight from the case at room temperatureIt was way too sweet for my liking, too creamy and didn't have enough coffee aroma or flavour.
- Chilled in the fridge
The sweetness was more subtle due to the colder temperature, but it didn't help with the already lacking coffee taste.- Poured over ice
After a good stir with a glass of ice to ensure maximum coldness, the end result was just horrible. You know when you finish a good coffee over ice and you leave the rest to melt? It tasted like that. Like iced coffee leftovers.
