Roaming The Bluffs, Part 1

I've lived in the city of Toronto for over 27 years and this was my first time visiting The Scarborough Bluffs. Okay, so maybe I visited when I was wee small, but I can't recall any of it. Rich and I arrived in the afternoon, not knowing what to expect. But after driving around a little, impressed by the beautiful houses and finally settling on a place to park, we were presently surprised!

Scarborough all of a sudden turned into something completely different.

This place was a pretty little gem.

Plenty of people were out with their dogs. Some in the dog park and some roaming free, playing games like frisbee.

Whoops, not quite!

We started off up top, overlooking the water and rocky sand. It was so lush with greenery and the weather was just perfection. Summery, partially sunny with the slightest breeze and not too humid. You bet I covered myself in sunscreen! While I enjoy all this outdoorsy stuff, I can't hide the fact that I am allergic to the sun. No sunscreen = rash for days.

I'm slowly turning into a vampire.

Sail boats were out in full force.

People on jet skies, whipping along Lake Ontario.

Gross spider webs being gross.

The sun was about to set, we were reach the "golden hour". What better time than to snap a couple of photos together?

Hooray for tripods!

Am I still in the city?!

Funny little greenery growing in the sand.

Seriously though, this place is gorgeous and this was just a small section of where we could have gone.

Looking up from where we basically came from. The sun was kind of about to set and we had walked really, really far from where we descended.

Yeah, we came from all the way up there. I had dramatic flashbacks from when we hiked down the Grand Canyon.

Almost sunset, no problem. Lets play with rocks.

Rich skipped rocks while I watched and snapped photos.
I've never been able to skip them, but with a but of practice, I did it!

Glass pebble with chicken wire. It was probably a window or something in it's previous life. Kind of nice looking, hm?

An assortment of flat stones to choose from.

We spent like, thirty minutes doing this throwing rocks in the water thing and the thought of having to trek ALL THE WAY BACK was daunting; hence the hideous face I'm making. I mean, look at how tall that grass is. There was no other way back up, except from where we came from and it was far and it meant climbing rocks and trees and through muck. My eye liner was starting to run!

By the way, I wore flip flops. Any excuse to wear them, I love flip flops. They might not be the safest for hiking around or climbing things, but I like to think my toe-grip game is stronger than most.
