Valentine's Day started with surprise roses from Rich <3
Then to Nino D'aversa, for Tiramisu and pistachio gelato (mine)
and raspberry and mango gelato for Richard. I love that this place is literally 5 minutes from my house! Looks like I'll be spending a lot of my summer days/nights getting a sugar or caffine or carb fix here. Plus, their expanding their patio...+1!
We went out for dinner the night after at Restoran Malaysia. We ordered the Penang Char Kuay Teow, made vegan: a noodle dish consisting of super fat rice noodles, mixed greens and veg, and large chunks of tofu.
as well as the Pad Thai, again, made vegan (so we could share). The chef added lots of tofu in place of chicken and shrimp.
All in all the food was just...okay. We finished most of it, (mostly because we were super hungry) but it was super...plain. I've been there before and was really impressed with their dishes, but this time around...not so much! I'm assuming they changed chefs, because the Panang noodles were pretty much tasteless and the Pad Thai was nothing spectacular. Not like I had remembered it to be, which is unfortunate. Will I be returning? Probably not.
Overall Valentine's Day was great. I'm really glad we decided not to spend a gazillion dollars on gifts and nic naks! I got to spend it my amazing boyfriend and really, that's all that matters. xo
