This little guy was on the side of the trail Rich and I usually walk on. When I first spotted him, I froze. 'Cause you know...having a raccoon stare into your soul is kind of..startling. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that he didn't even flinch when I walked nearer. "Wild" animals usually don't want anything to do with humans and will scurry away. This one did nothing. Something was wrong. He was sick. Maybe not crazy rabies sick, but when I got close, I could see goop-y snot and clouded eyes. He might have ingested poison or have a respiratory disease. Five minutes later, after warning a dog owner passing by (with a unleashed dog, who then leashed his dog for safety reasons) the little raccoon toppled over on his side. He wasn't dead though, but probably will be by the end of the day. That's life, eh? I just hope someone isn't poisoning them...it's kind of weird how there are so many dead raccoons in one area though. Who does one report this to? Seems a little weird to me.
Seriously gross face making in this photo! But look how cute she is!! |
One of my favourite kitty cats! She's looking kind of skinny compared to last time, which made me thing maybe she wasn't being fed. But when we walked past the address located on her collar and saw the lady there, I chalked it up to Atticus being lean from running around day and night. Maybe I'm just trying to find excuses to take her home with me... (I probably am. Don't be surprised when I post about hi-jacking her.) I love this cat. Like the vet bills from Tank isn't enough.. ha ha ha. She looks well taken care of, her ears are clean, fur silky, eyes clear and she's so well mannered. I take walks just to see if she's out and about! Or maybe one day I'll just knock on her owner's door and ask, "Hi, can Atticus come out to play?". I just might...
