Dragon Pearl Buffet. Stunning interior with all their tables, chairs and decor made of reclaimed ship wood! The restaurant is large and has a fantastic ambiance. On the left side of the photo, are "bird cage" themed seats. On the other side of the restaurant, where I've been seated prior to this visit, are two giant "ships" which seats 4. There's also a large stretched table with the most gorgeous glass chandelier which seats about 20 as well as a couple of large round tables with wood chairs with backs at least 9 feet tall. Whoever designed this place definitely knows how to wow! There are several private rooms and a party room available too. |

When you think sushi at a buffet, you either think food poisoning or really bad quality. This is the complete opposite. Seriously fresh and flavourful salmon sashimi and super fresh sushi/rolls! Hands down, some of the best sushi I've had. They're not cheap on the ingredients either. The avocado rolls have a very generous chunk of chilled avocado in the middle. And as you can see, a fair amount of rice. Like, like, like! |
Roast beef, buttered mashed potatoes (Which I think is made from real and not powdered potatoes! I think this, because I found a chunk of un-mashed tater. +1), lots of steamy hot gravy, york shire pudding (yum), asparagus and a healthy dollop of spicy horseradish. You can also get beef ribs if you're there at the right time! |
Peking duck and a lettuce wrap! It's all self serve, so if you really wanted like 5 peices of duck and one wrap, you can! |
This was only like...a quarter of what their dessert bar was like. They have awesome desserts! Most buffet places have generic, pretty crappy tasting pasteries and cakes. I very much enjoyed everything you see here. From the top, clockwise: strawberry jello (I just had to), a crispy fried thing candied with caramel (the best, I can down like 10 of these), mini cheesecake, blueberry cheesecake (both were delish!), chewy/crispy fried sesame rice ball, haystack brownie and a Chinese donut rolled in sugar..SO good. OINK! |
So...are you wondering WTF a Dragon Pearl anyways? It's this monster! A hollow. super thin and crispy...ball. It's sweet like a lace cookie and really fun to watch being made! That is some serious skill, right there. |

Look at her go! |

Look how nice this place is decorated! |
You can buy one to bring home for about ten bucks! |
When sushi and sashimi is an option, I have to have. Look at the fatty salmon! |
Spicy/salty shrimp, peking duck, fried and breaded shrimp, green beans |
Did I tell you about the noodles?! THE HAND PULLED, made fresh, infront of your eyes noodles? Delicious. Chewy and flavourful. You get to choose from three different broths too. Spicy beef, chicken and tom-yum. Beef is my fav! |
Tester plate of asparagus, mussels in a black bean sauce, teriyaki salmon and a single plantain. Salmon was a touch over done, over all, very good. |
My brother...york shire pudding stuffed with ice cream! I did not try this. |
So...I filled my a plate up with sweets. But I'm tell'n you, it wasn't all for me! From the top, clockwise: Chinese donut, tiramisu, blueberry mousse cake, chocolate covered strawberry, fried pastery covered in caramel, mini cheesecake, double chocolate cake and a ridiculously decadent multilayer caramel cake. O-M-G. |

Washroom check! Holy clean. See that grey thing on the left side of the picture? That's a Dyson airblade hand dryer and it's pretty darn awesome! |
Stalls made of solid ship wood. I still can't believe how clean it was. lol |
The large round table with super cool chairs I mentioned earlier. I wasn't kidding about the height! |
Gorgeous. |
This is the long table I wrote about that seats about 20. SO fab. |
Closing time. Yep, we stayed until closing. It was that good. See that tall, statue like thing on the right side (back)? That's petrified wood. How cool is that?! |
Dragon pearl is located at 865 York Mills Road in North York.
Prices are a little higher than your average buffet, but well worth it!
