I served this cranberry sauce at Thanksgiving dinner and it was safe to say that a lot, if not everybody enjoyed it! My dad was raving about it on and on talking about how it would great simply slathered on a piece of toast. I even made a roast chicken a couple days later so we could eat the cranberry sauce, kind of like a mini post-Thanksgiving dinner. We like poultry. :)
The sauce was ridiculously simple to make and was very budget friendly!
Start off by rinsing the cranberries and dumping them into a medium sized pot. Add in a cup of sugar and a pinch of salt. |
Depending on how orange-y you like it, add orange juice and/or water to equal 1 cup total. |
Set the stove on medium high and let it boil! |
The berries will start to pop and break down, kind of like this. |
After about 10 minutes, it'll look like a nice chunky sauce and it'll taste delish. But don't go spooning it in your pie hole! You'll burn the crap out of your mouth and cry. You're welcome. :) |
Scrape every last bit out of the pot and into a bowl, chill and serve. |
The best thing about this recipe, is that you can make it days in advance! Don't you just love it when you can make things ahead of time?? I LOVE IT.
P.S. If you're feeling a little bit fancy and happen to have an orange sitting around, zest it and add it in to the sauce!
I did.
