I left on the house on Friday night as usual, but this week I came back home early. Prepping for Thanksgiving dinner was the reason, but I also wanted to check up on Tank.
She wasn't eating or drinking while I was away and I could feel that she had lost weight. I could feel her spine. Two days is all it took for her to be like this. Totally heart breaking. The medication given by the vet seems to have slowed her symptions although it's only been about 8 days since she started it. She's on a 20 day antibiotic treatment. We'll be going in for a followup in a couple of days, but for now, right now- fluids and food are priority number one.
I got out my Magic Bullet, put a third of a can of cat food in it a long with enough water to get it to blend totally smooth. With a large fluid syringe, I hand fed her in two sessions, each spanding about 45 minutes.
It's a slow process, but she's not fighting me which is good. It's extremely messy, but at least she's getting something in her belly. I'll be picking up some kitten milk for her to mix with her food as it's higher in calories and has more nutrients. It kills me to see her like this.
